Good point. The ideas of Julian Barbour, David Deutsch on time derive from Sir Fred Hoyle’s sci-fi novel “The Black Cloud” that I read at Birkbeck I think in 1971. See also P. K. Dick “The Man in the High Castle.” You can imagine some of the saucers from parallel worlds where the Nazis did win if you take that interpretation of quantum reality seriously. See also “Virtual History: Alternatives and Counterfactuals” by Niall Ferguson. In many worlds theory there are no counterfactuals. All is factual.

BTW Nick Cook mentions a big aerospace legend guy who could make paperclips float - "Operation Paperclip"? ;-)

Well I have read the book. John Alexander attempted to get Nick and I together, however that did not play out.

I remember we had related discussions at ISSO with Creon and Saul-Paul but I did not take notes. Did you mention the Bell machine then? This would have been before Nick did his book.
 
One thing that many people do not know [or have overlooked] is that the mythos of weird German science has been exaggerated both by the left and the right. The Germans did not have super science, they were however looking at some areas that may not have received as much attention in the USA or Britain.
 
For example Peter Goudschmidt [ALSOS project...mission into Rhineland ahead of allied forces to reach the German bomb project] dismissed reports of German research in directed energy weapons [there were at least 5 separate programs] as science fiction "like the German rocketry program". Also much of the lack of German progress in radar has been used as an example of how science could not flourish under such a regime. Probably true on many levels...however again history has been re-written. The German research in WW-II concentrated on unique radar countermeasures, one of which is still real close to a classified approach.
 
Many people are unaware of the German research in electro-optics including infrared television camera and a NONLINEAR optical image intensifier...I know the engineer at North American who examined and tested a German device that was using something like a DFWM imaging system...at least that is what the optical diagram looked like to me.......
 
1945 was the year that saw the highest production levels in many German industries...jet aircraft were in production with assembly areas hidden in the black-forest.
 
The BF was in fact the area with the largest number of black projects. Including one that was written about in 1947 that described in very sober details an attempt to control gravity using engineering attempts to apply unified field theories. AND THAT facility was known to the lANL folks we talked to in 1992. NONE of that was in Cook's book.....nor [correct me if I am wrong] did he include the most obvious thing supporting him...the 1957 FBI document on the the Gut Alt Gollsen facility 30 miles east of Berlin.....

Can we get and publish these documents?

S-P have you gotten Nick Cook's book "The Hunt for Zero Point" yet?

The very end is unfortunate - Nick ends it with a plug for Bearden's MEG! Ugh! Can you resend that message from Sc Am debunking MEG?

But the book has many interesting connections and many of the people we know (John Alexander, Millis, Hathaway, Hal ...)

By far the most important idea is George Trimble's "G-Engine" concept of 1956 for which I now think I have the basic theory that encompasses Podkletnov's, Ning Li's, Schauberger's "phenomena" and includes torsion fields almost trivially. Without vacuum coherence one has nothing, and I am convinced that Hal does not yet understand what I am talking about when I use the term.

The most important "evidence" is Victor Schauberger's "Bell experiment" and how it fell into the hands of Evgeny Podkletnov's father after WWII via NKVD.

Direct connection Nazi occult -> Schauberger's "vortex implosion" -> Soviet torsion fields -> Ning Li/Podkletnov -> hooplah over free ZPE/anti-gravity leading to March 1, 2004 Aviation Week "To the Stars."

Some key physics errors that keep popping up in Nick's writing:

1. The idea that gravity emerges from pure random ZPE that Hal Puthoff pushes is completely wrong throwing the non-random vacuum coherence baby out in the turbulent waters. Dan Marckus has not seen through that confusion.

3. Nick's attempt to explain the Bell need to be deleted from the next edition. Nevertheless the Bell is the most interesting empirical part of the book. Hutchison is too of course. I knew his Austrian girlfriend at Henry Dakin's and she said Hutchison is a UFO Contactee and the "phenomenon" happens via ET intervention.

4. On Townsend-Brown we need to look at V. Petkov's "dipole" paper - in case there is some shred of truth to it. So I will re look at that. Petkov's paper may be a clue.

[Note that 121 = 11 x 11.]

Anyone who is conversant with recent developments in unified field theory
would immediately think of 11-d supergravity which is the "low energy"
approximation model for 11-d membrane theory. In 11-d space-time there are 4
dimensions of ordinary space-time and 7 "hidden" dimensions.

The original string theory of 1970 was a 26-d space-time theory which could
handle only bosons. So there are 22 (= 11 + 11) hidden dimensions in this
theory.

The number 22 reminds me that there are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet,
and that the well known Atbash cipher uses the fact the 22 = 11 + 11. In
this cipher the 1st letter aleph is replaced by the 22nd letter taw, the 2nd
letter beth is replaced by the 21st letter shin (and so on)--thus the world
Atabash. There are instances of this cipher in the Bible as for example in
Jeremiah 25:26 and 51:41 where "Babel" is replaced by the cipher word
"Sheshach". (Cf. *The Code Breakers* by David Kahn (Macmillan, New York,
1967).

Atbash is an example of a cryptographic code (where information is hidden in
artificially generated noise). Dual to such codes are error-correcting codes
which keep information free from random noise. Such codes have a role in
unified field theory in the sense that both the Hamming-8 code and the
Golay-24 code are used for anomaly cancellation in the heterotic string
theory, which weaves together the 10-d superstring theory with the 26-d
bosonic string theory. And this reminds me that while Golay-24 is a binary
error correcting code, there is a ternary Golay code, which is a perfect
code called Golay-11. (A perfect code of length d uses a maximally efficient
sphere-packing in a d-dimensional space.) I suspect that the Golay-11 code
may be useful in the ll-d membrane theory--but this is just a wild guess at
this point, since I have just thought of it in this context.

Re Uri Geller's "11-11" precognition, this is not the first time I've run
into these numbers in a UFO context. In the early 1980s my friend Douglass
Price-Williams, a psychological anthropologist on the staff of UCLA's
Neuropsychiatric Institute, told me that he was present when Herb Schirmer,
a young Nebraska Highway Patrolman, who claimed to have been taken aboard a
UFO after he stumbled onto it (and its occupants) during a routine patrol
on 12/3/67 near the town of Ashland, NB, underwent hypno-regression by
James Harder. Among the information gleaned during this session that, to
the best of Doug's and my knowledge, never made it into print was a curious
statement by Schirmer that, as he was escorted out of the UFO by his
abductors, he found himself focusing briefly on an oblong sign just above
the exit door on which were emblazoned the words "eleven eleven" followed
by the word "fember" (or at least that's the way Schirmer recalled it under
hypnosis). According to Price-Williams, when Schirmer described the sign
he became extremely agitated, whereupon his voice took on a very different
tone and said in a calm and matter-of-fact way, "Don't worry, we have him
under control." Doug speculated that this could have been an alien
speaking directly to the investigators in real time through the subject's
lips.

Afterwards, Schirmer told Harder and Price-Williams that those numbers were
very important & somehow terrifying, although he didn't know why. From the
moment I heard this story I suspected that it reflected a date of some
sort, although there was no obvious year. "Fember" may have reflected the
month of "November," especially as Schirmer was of German descent and may
have recalled a grandparent pronouncing the word "November" in the German
way, with the v becoming an f. Also, if this had occurred when he was very
young he could well have articulated it as "'fember," dropping the initial
syllable. (For more details of the Herb Schirmer case, please see Richard
Dolan, UFOS AND THE NATIONAL SECURITY STATE (2nd ed., Hampton Roads, 2002,
pp. 341-342.)

In any case, I doubt whether the similarity between what Schirmer saw and
Geller's recent vision (or whatever) is coincidental. "11-11," possibly
followed by another "11" and/or the word "November") may indeed prove to be
significant, whether or not it refers to the current year. I strongly urge
all UFO (and paranormal) investigators to check their notes carefully to
see if they've found anything similar, and especially if it's
contextualized, so that we can pool our data and try to make sense of what
these numbers mean. One curious synchronicity does come to mind: the
Armistice that ended World War I went into effect at the "eleventh hour of
the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918. Could the "Alien Raj"
have had a surreptitious impact on the Allies in this regard? One wonders....

His metric is OK for say a rotating superconductor disk like in Podkletnov's device, which I do not know if it really works. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. Many men tried to fly with "wings" before the Wright Brothers with "The Wright Stuff"! ;-) Some kind of rotating superconductor device can give true anti-gravity. Now I proved that with little more than Feynman's Vol III of Lectures on Physics. It's an easy problem conceptually once one knows what to ask.

I am indebted to John A. Wheeler but not to Evgeny Podkletnov who credits Hal Puthoff with Andrei Sakharov's 1967 idea that gravity is emergent induced from zero point fluctuations (ZPF). Actually Sakharov had it wrong in 1967. Gravity comes from the nonrandom PV coherent condensate of virtual electron-positron pairs (dominant contribution at long range), it's the dark energy/matter that comes from the remnant of random ZPF. BTW Podkletnov invokes Akimov's and Shipov's "torsion field" that we considered at ISSO 1999-2000. We even brought Shipov over from Moscow at least twice. We did not come to any definite conclusion. There is a lot of coverup disinfo around the subject. Methinks the debunkers "doth protest too much."
I know the US Navy funded some of the R&D on our side - and the project may have gone "black." The issue really is the strength of the coupling of a torsion field to quantum spins of particles both real and virtual inside the vacuum. You cannot compute the torsion coupling from first principles yet anymore than you can compute G/c^4 for the curvature coupling. That so far is still a matter for experiment.

You need G* ~ 10^40 G on scale of one fermi ~ Lp^2/3(c/Ho)^1/3 for this idea to work and explain hadronic resonance universal Regge slope as well as stability of the spatially extended electron never solved before. V. Petkov BTW does not solve the problem.

Through trial and error, and although they are quite heavy, hot and capable of putting out a great deal of energy (300 - 500 megawatts), it's discovered that these microsingularities can be electrified and captured. The reason one does not see anti-gravity easily is that the damn action is too big compared to 2h so the cosine term fluctuates rapidly averaging to zero with no effect.

I have sent a letter to Mitchell J. Porter about the conceptual breaktrough
that Podolny nicely explains for non-physicists like me, namely everything
is understood in the framework of the Meissner effect and suggesting that
vacuum is superconductive [Bose-Einstein condensate]. Here is part of my
letter to Mitch :

"Everything is very very simple and starts from the possibility the vacuum
to be filled with virtual particles, so called zero point energy
fluctuations. They appear and die soon after their birth, so they cannot be
even registered if there are not the influences these virtual particles upon
the real particles - like the Casimir force, anomalous electron behaviour
because of virtual positron shell, etc.

But this is just the beginning ..

It comes out that everything comes from SUPERCONDUCTIVITY OF THE VACUUM and
ANALOGUE OF THE MEISSNER EFFECT.

So what? What's your point? In order for this to be important you have to show how Einstein's theory of gravity connects to this idea of the superconducting vacuum. What is the penetration depth in Podolny's model. It better be ~ c/Ho? What is the coherence length?

Podolny says to imagine a superconductor and external magnetic field. In the
superconductor the magnetic field is zero i.e. as if the magnetic field is
totally reflected, while currents are generated. The electrons form
Bose-condensate at low temperature -- but when the temperature raises the
Bose-condensate is destroyed and the magnetic field "enters" in the
superconductor.

How is this relevant to the vacuum problem?

Now comes the second question: how many forces are in the nature -
electromagnetic, weak, strong forces and gravity. It comes out that weak
forces are too short acting, and what about the strong forces the scenario
is the same.

But what if the virtual particles in the vacuum are Bose-superconductors for
the weak and strong forces. In the vacuum these forces will be zero in
analogy with the magnetic field. If we raise the temperature the
Bose-condensate of the virtual particles in the vacuum is destroyed and the
weak forces enter the vacuum - they become long-range acting. This happens
at temperature 10^16 kelvin, while there is only species of BE condensate
that makes the electromagnetic-weak force to be different from the strong
forces. When the temperature is raised this BE condensate is destroyed too
and at 10^27 kelvin all the forces are the same i.e. act as long-range
forces.

THIS IS PERFECT CONCEPTION! As if I have "opened my eyes" for the reality
around me.

Good for you. But I do not see how this relates at all to the Sakharov idea? And what kind of condensate do you mean? What is your condensate made out of?

What is interesting is that the book is from 1983 and constantly quotes
Andrei Linde and Iakov Zeldovich - researchers in the institute for
superconductivity in USSR [superconductivity <-> vacuum]."

What really impressed me is the simple explanation of the unification of
forces as well as the brief history of the Universe. Of course the Podolny
book is too interesting and full of interesting facts, but for pitty I do
not know any English version or from where it can be purchased. I personally
don't have so much time to translate it for my english friends.

Also I claim this is the inflation field of cosmology on the large scale.

When I use "vacuum coherence" I mean a QED BCS type vacuum instability causing the inflation field to form where Einstein's gravity emerges from the coherent Goldstone phase of the inflation field and the unified w = -1 dark energy/matter is controlled by the Higgs intensity of the inflation field.

I have a dynamics for inflation not found in current adhoc models.

What is wrong with Visser's paper is that it impliciltly assumes

original book of Roman Podolny written in 1983 called "Something called
Nothing". For pitty I don't know from where this book can be obtained in
English [I will need 4-5 months spent to translate it].

Currently I am interested also in the superconductive properties of the
vacuum and download from arXiv papers from Andrei Linde, and also I will try
to find something of Iakov Zeldovich who worked on the theory of vacuum.

Yes. But there appears to be some confusion about the CIA and the previous Central Intelligence Group, a short-lived temporary structure designed to try and unify the dog’s breakfast that had appeared after Truman quickly dissolved the OSS. I quote from The CIA's Greatest Hits by Mark Zepezauer, where the author appears to be referring to the CIG structure, and not the CIA.

“One of the most important of all CIA operations began before the agency was even born. Many Nazi leaders realized they were going to lose World War II and started negotiating with the US behind Hitler's back about a possible future war against the USSR. In 1943, future CIA Director Allen Dulles moved to Bern, Switzerland to begin back-channel talks with these influential Nazis. We are always asking questions about Hitler, and it is quite right that we should do so. Theoretically, he should be almost forgotten, like the Kaiser. But something very strange and quite unique happened in Germany between 1933 and 1945. The celebrated books of the great conventional historians (Bullock Trevor-Roper, Taylor) are essentially descriptive and see Nazism as a wider and more terrible manifestation of what to them was nevertheless a good old-fashioned nationalist endeavour. In this sense the Kaiser’s war indeed does fit the classical equations of the traditional historical view. What happened between 1914 and 1918 can be somewhat rationalized in terms of that conventional socio-economic/ego-imperialistic military chauvinism manifested by Napoleon, the battles of the British Empire, and the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. As a piece of history, the Great War (as it was called then) of 1914-1918 was a recognizable piece of the late 19th century. Though today in
a very different world, we reject Marx, there is no doubt that Marxist

Nazism was not a manifestation that stemmed from traditional forces. It was essentially an occult philosophy that stemmed from mystical ideas about racial and national identity (Wagner, Nietzsche, et al). Intellectually, the Nazi mind was married to that quite respectable philosophy of eugenics which had considerable influence in academic circles since Francis Galton coined the word (see the recently published War Against the Weak ) The fundamental problem with Nazism begins when we realize and accept that the great liberal secular tradition which (for sake of argument) began with Rousseau and Tom Paine) does not accept occult philosophy. This tradition of science, democracy, the scholastic tradition of “objective” factual analysis within essentially a republican social and political framework is now firmly established in the great universities and schools of the Western world. This great humanitarian tradition tried the Nazi leaders at Nuremberg in 1945 as it would try common horse-thieves. This was because Nazism was quite beyond the cognitive lens of traditional minds of even such cross-examining barristers as the brilliant Hartley Shawcross. Legal definitions and traditional moral terms were not adequate, because what the Nazis did was quite beyond all rational, moral, and certainly legal conceptions of both science and democracy.
 
I had a letter asking how Hitler could "read" of events since he avoided certain death many times.. Well to my mind the answers can be given only if we reconstruct for a moment a holistic world model in which elements of personality are not finite, but
extend into animal, mineral and vegetable realms that spread through the whole entire material realm. Very few these days accept such a model. If it enters universities at all, it is as a descriptive entity and not an operational one. The Renaissance world picture is perhaps the last collective example of this view in Western culture before the objective techniques of physical science became the next “successful” culture in line. The Elizabethan culture was equally successful; witness Shakespeare and the growth of European culture from that time. Sixth century Athens and second
century Alexandria were equally “successful,” (as was Byzantine society) but modern science is rather wary of pre-scientific cultures that were as “successful” as it. To my mind, the much-abused New Age movements are often tragic attempts to try and rediscover this rejected model if only in order to try and understand what evil movements such as Nazism are made of. They all try (often commendably) to re-capture lost transcendental elements of personality that belong to a deeper history and are not subject
to clock-time, a fairly crude mechanism which is a new and rather callow arrival on the historical stage. We must understand what Jung meant by his concept of participation mystique. I expanded on this in some detail in a post to M. Martinez some two weeks ago, but there were some strange loops going on in these threads and postings at this time, and it may have got lost. For those interested, it is appearing in Combat Diary 19, available sometime in the first week of May.

Here is a modern restatement of the basic Shakespearian synthesis:

(1) Mind and Nature are one entity. Our thought processes reach out through the natural realm. The concept of "action at a distance" is unecessary. Information is transmitted simultaneously through massively expanded states of being, not by means of distances and velocities.

Ning Wu's theory from Peking/Beijing does have some common ground with my own theory. He or she? Locally gauges the translation group to get the tetrad fields of GR that are like spin 1 fields, prior to going to spin 2 "strain tensor" where the tetrad compensating fields are world crystal distortion field. The tetrad fields ensure the local equivalence principle that Hal Puthoff in PV essentially violates.

Wu basically does Modanese's theory for superconductor coherence coupling to gravity, but does not realize that the spin 1 tetrad compensating fields themselves emerge from the phase of the vacuum coherence.

That is none of these NASA BPP theorists and their competition in Beijing, Teheran etc have my idea, which is unique.

That is they start with GR + SC theory and couple them. That's what Modanese did. The SC coherence contributes to what I call the /\zpfguv term in Einstein's field equation, which in the exotic vacuum weak field limit approaches the Newtonian Poisson equation

This work is directly relevant to "The Hunt for Zero Point" advanced propulsion-exotic energy technology of metric engineering the fabric of space-time using macro-quantum control. In my Bohmian theory I derive Einstein's gravity with the dark energy/matter zero point vacuum fluctuation energy local field as bottom- > up "More is different" emergents collective true vacuum modes out of a QED false vacuum instability. There is a "Bohm quantum potential" version of the true vacuum coherence whose phase variations give the curvature of the smooth space-time fabric. This is not the same as trying to quantize Einstein's gravity, which may be a wrong thing to try. Quantizing gravity is like trying to quantize the top -> down phenomenological elastic theory of crystals with the Young moduli etc.. That is not the same as using a "many body problem" bottom -> up micro-quantum Hamiltonian theory of elementary excitation quasi-particle "phonon" crystal vibrations that are excited states above the many-atom ground state.

Understanding quantum theory in terms of a geometric picture sounds great. There are different approaches to this idea. Here we shall present a geometric picture of quantum theory using the de-Broglie--Bohm causal interpretation of quantum mechanics. We shall show that it is possible to understand the key character of de-Broglie--Bohm theory, the quantum potential, as the conformal degree of freedom of the space--time metric. In this way, gravity should give the causal structure of the space--time, while quantum phenomena determines the scale. Some toy models in terms of tensor and scalar--tensor theories will be presented. Then a few essential physical aspects of the idea including the effect on the black holes, the initial Big--Bang singularity and non locality are investigated. We shall formulate a quantum equivalence principle according to which gravitational effects can be removed by going to a freely falling frame while quantum effects can be eliminated by choosing an appropriate scale. And we shall see that the best framework for both quantum and gravity is Weyl geometry. Then we shall show how one can get the de-Broglie--Bohm quantum theory out of a Weyl covariant theory. Iran starstruck by UFO phenomenon

UFO fever is gripping Iran after dozens of Unidentified Flying Object

I knew George in 1967 in La Jolla - the scene described by Greg Benford in "Timescape." George does not deal with the "hard problem" of how to describe inner awareness in terms of physics. Neither does Francis Crick.

Nothing of the sort is of course implied: the cells carry out their processing by summation and inhibition and other physiological interactions within their receptive fields. I also use a Wigner distribution idea for the local macro-quantum order parameter Psi(x) that is the physical mind field.

"Within a few days of my second encounter with Hilgard, Nico Spinelli a postdoctoral fellow in my laboratory, brought in a paper written by John Eccles (Scientific American, 1958) in which he stated that although we could only examine synapses one by one, presynaptic branching axons set up synaptic wavefronts. Images could readily be recovered from the store by appropriate procedures that had been described by Dennis Gabor (1946) almost two decades earlier. Gabor called his mathematical formulation a hologram.
Using the mathematical holographic process as a metaphor seemed like a miraculous answer to Hilgard‘s question. Shading, detail, texture, everything in a pattern that we perceive can be accomplished with ease. Russell and Karen DeValois (1988) book on —Spatial Vision“ and my (1991) book —Brain and Perception“ provide detailed reviews of experimental results that support the conjecture that holography is a useful metaphor in coming to understand the brain/mind relation with regard to perception. Here I want to explore some further thoughts engendered by this use of a mathematical formulation to understand the brain/mind relation."

It is more literally true than a mere metaphor because the physicsl mind field is a giant quantum ODRLO wave Psi(x) in the brain and maybe entire body. x is in ordinary space. Forget the Copenhagen Cult nonsense of "collapse". Giant quantum waves do not collapse. "More is different" (P.W. Anderson). The reason for the hologram interference pattern of our mental life is "generalized phase rigidity" that is the biological analog in the emergence of inner consciousness to Andrei Sakharov's "metric elasticity" for the emergence of both gravity and dark energy out of the cohering of the random zero point quantum vacuum fluctuation energies. "Collapse" means death of the mind. It's the descent into noise. It's the loss of coherent integration of function and use of language seen so frequently in mental wards, on the streets filled with the homeless and in the mad ravings of wannabe Pundits on the Internet. ;-)

I told him about the holographic metaphor for brain processing and we discussed its Fourier basis. Gabor was pleased in general but stated that —brain processing [of the kind we were discussing] was Fourier-like but not exactly Fourier.“ I asked, what then might such a relation look like and Gabor had no answer. Rather we got onto a step-wise process that could compose the Fourier -- an explanation that I later used to trace the development of the brain process from retina to cortex. Gabor never then nor later told me about his 1946 contribution to communication theory and practice: that he had developed a formalism to determine the maximum compressibility of a telephone message that renders it still intelligible. He used the same mathematics that Heisenberg had used to describe processes in quantum physics and therefore called his —unit a quantum of information. It took me several years to locate this contribution which is referred to in Likleiter‘s article on acoustics in Stevens 1951 Handbook of Experimental Psychology.

Does this application indicate that the formalism of quantum physics applies more generally to other scales of inquiry? Alternatively, for brain function, at what scale do actual quantum physical processing take place? At what anatomical scale(s) do we find quantum coherence and at what scale does decoherence occur? "

The mind is a large thing immune to environmental decoherence.

"To summarize: The formalisms that describe the holographic process and those that describe quanta of information apparently DO extend to scales other than the quantum. Today we use quantum holography to produce images with the technique of functional Magnetic Resonance (fMRI). The quantities described by terms of the formalisms such as Planck‘s constant will, of course, vary but the formulations will to a large extent be self-similar. The important philosophical implications for the brain/mind issue have been addressed in depth by Henry Stapp on several occasions (e.g 2003, —The Mindful Universe“) as well as by many others including myself (e.g. Pribram, 1997, What is mind that the brain may order it?). Stapp's theory is no good because he does not ask the right question. Stapp uses the collapse idea and for that reason throws the consciousness baby out with the bath water out into the briar patch filled with thorns and poison oak in the not hallowed but hollow withered dead Halls of Ivy. Even though von Neumann, London, Wigner and Penrose played with the idea it is no good and does not work. A reading of P.W. Anderson's book "A Career in Theoretical Physics" shows why the quantum measurement approach is no good for consciousness studies. Almost all the quantum theory papers at the Tucson Conferences are not correct. Stapp came closest in his retro-PK paper in Phys Rev A for which he was roasted alive in Physics Today and other boring venues of academic respectablity. Stapp then had a failure of nerve, and like Galileo before the Inquisition of the Immaculate Deception, recanted and has been under virtual house arrest ever since. ;-)

Sounds interesting but I do not understand how Pribram connects the math to the observations.

The neurons are too coarse-grained to explain the hard problem of the emergence of inner consciousness - of who we really are.

OK for our machine zombie levels of behavior, but it does not touch on the hard problem.

Like in the Bekenstein formula. A black hole is a giant string of BITs inside the event horizon in both sense of physics and computation of a string of c-bits (and maybe qubits). All space is like a black hole in some sense if the world itself is a hologram.

You need creative tension, some linear superposition, but also enough nonlinearity, in sense of the Landau-Ginzburg equation for the giant quantum Psi field, to have signal nonlocality between different parts of the brain that get their marching orders from the same Psi mind field.

"Stapp provides a viable metaphor in a glob or cloud of water acting together rather than as a collection of independently moving droplets. —The motion of each point in the cloud is influenced by its neighbors.“

For that we have the nonlocal Bohm quantum potential of the giant Psi wave. But now we have signal nonlocality not signal locality. The linear unitary Schrodinger equation of micro-quantum theory in huge configuration space is no good. We need the nonlinear nonunitary Landau-Ginzburg equation in ordinary space. Giant quantum mind fields are not "projective rays". "More is different." Trash all of Von Neumann's "Quantum Theory of Measurement." It's useless for the "hard problem." Everything you read in the New Age pop books on the physics of consciousness is "not even wrong." The rules of the Glass Bead Game have changed qualitatively. There are more things between Heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in the Copehagen "philofawzy." Something is rotten in the "collapse of the state" in Denmark.

No, all the Tucson Pundits are completely confused. It's not entanglement they need, it's signal nonlocality that they need. They are, all of them, very far from asking the right question. Antony Valentini formulated what is close to the right question in his "sub-quantal non-equilibrium" AKA Landau-Ginzburg equation.

Chapline‘s provocative title employs a bit of poetic license. Nonetheless the paper provides considerable insight as to the applicability of the quantum formalism to other scales of inquiry. Chapline shows that quantum theory —can be interpreted as a canonical method for solving pattern recognition problems“ (p95). In the paper he relates pattern recognition to the Wigner-Moyal formulation of quantum theory stating that this —would be a good place to start looking for a far reaching interpretation of quantum mechanics as a theory of pattern recognition“ (p97).

This is good and I can use Chapline's math with my idea that the mind is a giant quantum wave.

"In a generalization of the Wigner- Moyal phase space he gives the physical dimensions as the Weyl quantization of a complete holographic representation of the surface. He replaces the classical variable of position within an electromagnetic field with ordinary creation and annihilation operators. He shows that —representing a Riemann surface holographically amounts to a pedestrian version of a mathematically elegant characterization of a Riemann surface in terms of its Jacobian variety and associated theta functions“ (p.98). This representation is equivalent —to using the well known generalized coherent states for an SU(n) Lie algebra“ (p.98). This is the formalism employed in —Brain and Percption“ (Pribram, 1991) to handle the formation of invariances that describe entities and objects."

Looks promising.

"There is much more in Chaplin‘s paper that resonates with the holonomic, quantum holographic formulations that describe the data presented in —Brain and Perception“. These formulations are based on quantum-like wavelets, Gabor and Wigner phase spaces. Whether these particular formulations will be found to be the most accurate is not the issue: rather it is that such formalisms can be attempted due to the fact that the —fundamental connecting link between mathematics and physics is the pattern recognition of the human brain“ (p.104).

Here come the qubits.

"As an example of the utility of these insights, Chapline indicates how we might map the co-ordination of processing in the central nervous system. He notes that —the general idea [is] that a quantum mechanical theory of information flow can be looked upon as a model for the type of distributed information processing carried out in the brain.“ He continues, —one of the fundamental heuristics of distributed information processing networks is that minimization of energy consumption requires the use of time division multiplexing for communication between processors, and it would be natural to identify the local internal time in such networks as quantum phase“ (p.104). The caveat is, as noted, that quantum phase is fragile..."

No! Here George errs I suspect. He is apparently not familiar with P.W. Anderson's "generalized phase rigidity" of emergent complexity giving an immunity against environmental decoherence.

Dr HAL PUTHOFF, of Stanford University, an expert in lasers and in theoretical zero-point energy fluctuations, came to this theory and proposed that beds of algae could be linked with others by lasers to see if one's electromagnetic pulse reactions were transmitted along the laser beam to the other bed which, sensing these wavelength changes, would react identically.


HP: I did have a proposal circulating to do such an experiment, though it never got funded. This the author must have gotten from open literature.


In one incident he recalled, Dr Puthoff invited, through mutual acquaintances, the famous medium Ingo Swann to participate by being placed in a chamber such as the ones the Soviets had surrounded their plants with in their ESP tests.  When Swann merely approached the
chamber, all the gadgets, indicators and lights went on and reacted violently.  Swann then immediately drew an accurate picture of what the interior of the complex chamber looked like, though he had never seen it and the chamber had never been photographed or the classified descriptions of it circulated in any published form.


HP: A garbled version that we published concerning Swann's affecting a shielded magnetometer experiment.


After being shown disturbing information that the CIA had obtained on Soviet psychic spies' "remote viewing" of the United States, Dr Puthoff agreed to head the U.S. counter "remote viewing" program, selecting sensitive people to counterspy with no other means than their minds. According to some published accounts, the U.S psychic spies were able to roam the Soviet Union in every dimension of the three planes of space we occupy, as well as the fourth,... of TIME. THE RESULTS OF THIS DATA – obtained over Puthoff's 15-year tenure – ARE STILL HIGHLY CLASSIFIED.


HP: Essentially true, though 78,000 pages have been declassified and are available at the National Archives (NARA) under the label "Star Gate Program."

Jack: Yes, the CIA RV work was confirmed to me directly in 1984-5 by CIA Chief of Station Harold Chipman as told in my book "Destiny Matrix" with corroborating documents reproduced. I support Puthoff and Targ's RV work. It is data for my theory of "signal nonlocality" showing breakdown of quantum theory in living matter. Antony Valentini has formalized this as "sub-quantal non-equilibrium" in sense of Bohm's "hidden variable" theory with the nonlocal BIT "quantum potential." Dick Bierman's "presponse" is further evidence.

My physics argument with Hal is strictly limited to

1. His work with Haisch et-al on EM ZPF origin of rest mass of the electron/quarks.

2. His use of Dicke's 1961 dielectric theory as a plausible model for metric engineering space-time fabric to explain flying saucers like the "reverse Doppler effect" reported by Bruce Cornet of NIDS. My theory explains all that very simply and directly. BTW Hal has not made any significant additions to what Dicke already did in 1961, which is now falsified by recent observed facts of "precision cosmology" since 1999. Specifically

i. Type 1a super novae redshifts

ii. Dark matter gravity lensing

iii. NASA WMAP space-probe data
